The Property Partnership is a multi-award-winning independent estate agency with offices in Barnes, Richmond and the Surrey Hills, dedicated to providing a positive experience based on a blend of innovation, hard work and socially responsible values.
Having spent over a decade working in both corporate and independent estate agencies, I was ready to be my own boss and set-up the first Property Partnership in my home town of Barnes, south-west London.
Barnes nestles within a loop in the Thames between Richmond and Putney, and is just a short hop over Hammersmith Bridge for those north-of-the-river types.
The starting point of the annual varsity Boat Race since 1845, Putney is a bustling shopping hub containing a wide range of housing styles – from apartments and elegant mansion flats to some of south-west London’s most impressive period family houses.
A perennial favourite with university-leavers before the rents went up and someone recommended Clapham, gentile Fulham has long been considered one of the most sought-after locations within south-west London.
Richmond is the largest of the communities we serve, although it still retains a most attractive pace of life, symbolised by the river that rolls gently beneath its 18th century bridge.
Comprising the community either side of Upper Richmond Road West between Putney and Richmond, Sheen is a vibrant community enviably served by excellent local schools, shops, pubs and restaurants.
Best known for its spectacular Botanic Gardens and Palace, Kew is situated just down-river from bustling Richmond and is very much a village compared to its bigger brother.
An agreeable amble over Richmond Bridge and up St. Margaret’s Road takes you into St. Margaret’s. This most endearing village has a strong sense of community.
The home of English rugby and just 10 miles from Hyde Park Corner, Twickenham is a sizeable suburban town offering fast trains into Waterloo and an extensive range of amenities at its centre.
Just a short stroll from St. Margaret’s, Old Isleworth is a small riverside community on a stretch of the Thames that has been lived on for over 4000 years.
Stretching from the banks of the Thames as it meanders from Strawberry Hill to Hampton Court Palace, Teddington is a wonderfully vibrant community served by many independent shops and restaurants.
The Hamptons refers collectively to the areas of Hampton, Hampton Hill and Hampton Wick, three communities with their own distinct identities, nestling within a loop in the Thames.
I remember it as if it were yesterday. I put down my copy of the Beano and looked up from my breakfast of Cadbury’s Crème Egg with Twix soldiers (it was the 1980’s), and said earnestly ‘Mother…Father, I want to be an estate agent when I grow up’.
Gardens have never been more important. In these challenging times, they have a vital role to play, both in preserving the health of the environment, and in helping to maintain our own physical and mental well-being.
It was already a classic formula before Coronavirus put the cat amongst the pigeons, but since lockdown more Londoners of all demographics are looking to up sticks in search of a more rural existence. Our sudden incarceration in mid-March put the property market on pause, prompting as time went on increasing self-analysis as people started to revaluate their homes in relation to changing living and working patterns. Thus the dynamics of our market are changing.
